Program Overview

Aunt Mary’s House (AMH) is a non-profit group home for homeless, or at risk of being homeless, pregnant women at least 18 years of age and their babies from pre-born to 18 months from Chenango County. AMH works to establish a stable and secure home that inspires self-enrichment and self-sufficiency.  Coaching role models will provide guidance to assist guests to learn parenting and family behaviors that support stable futures.  

AMH will also help these pregnant and parenting mothers to attain healthcare, childcare, and educational and vocational services through leveraging resources from partner organizations 

and local agencies. Each mother will be guided to resources for pre and postnatal care as needed. In addition, guests will be connected with support services and educational opportunities on their path to independent living. 

Mothers will learn a variety of life skills that will support their transition to affordable housing and financial independence. Whenever possible, it is the goal of AMH to support healthy connections with friends, family members, father of the babies and mentors supporting them in life skills and the decision-making processes to secure long term support as they transition from AMH. Graduates of AMH will gain self-sufficiency and become empowered to achieve independence and maintain a healthy family lifestyle.  It is the belief of AMH that as mothers build this foundation for themselves and their children, they strengthen our community.

• Mission: A safe haven for pregnant and parenting mothers to gain opportunities, resources and knowledge toward becoming self-sufficient. 
• Vision: Aunt Mary’s House provides emergency and transitional shelter to homeless pregnant and parenting mothers, ages 18 and up.
